24th of July

The weekend of the 24th of July was a blast for Jake and I. We decided last minute to go to my family reunion to my great uncles farm in Idaho. We both didnt want to go we thought it would be a waste of time and didnt want to have to get work off on Friday. But my grandparents were coming home from the mission and stopped by so we wanted to be able to spend the weekend with them. At the Farm we did relay races, and games. We played mud football that was knee high and at the end were so gross, we also had a huge slip n slide, we rode horses, and shot clay pigeons, of course i didnt get one but i attemped. Uncle Tommy thought i was too much of a city girl and was rolling on the ground he was laughing to hard. We also had a relay race with pigs. There was two tubs of water and a barrel off the ground in between. The game was all 3 partners had to go through the barrel with the pig and back through the fastest team to finish won. I unfortunately had to pick the pig up and shove it though i never though i would ever get that close to a pig in my life they were squeeling and wiggling it was insane. Jake did pretty well but the hit the bottom of the pool and blacked out haha his face is all cut up now and they ended up loosing also. All around though it was a fun getaway and we are so glad we went and saw life on the farm.

Golfing

This weekend we decided it was time to have some fun, since I was not able to go to Chicago i didnt want to sit around all week. Friday we went to pineview with the Shaws and had a blast we just hung out on the boat and on the beach and just relaxed. Then on saturday Jake and I went golfing with my parents. I have never been and was thinking it was going to be super easy and i would catch on instantly, but i was definately wrong. I had to have my dad teach me how to swing i had no idea there was a right and wrong way to hold a glof club. It was fun but very frustrating when you try hitting the ball 5 times and it doesnt move at all! by the end of the game i was hitting a few feet and then picking up my ball to where everyone else was but at least i was hitting it!!! I guess it is going to take some practice and maybe next time i will just ride in the cart but it was still fun to get out and do something fun.

Gramps Funeral

This was definately an intersting week for Jake and I. The viewing for grandpa was on Wednesday and the funeral was on Thursday. Jake and JJ put together a slide show of gramps life to show everyone which took them a couple days so they didnt work all week. I think it was a great opportunity for them to be able to reflect on his life and also to honor grandpa and what a wonderful man he was. The funeral turned out great. It was a little longer than everyone had planned but that is just because there was so many great stories to tell about him that the speakers could just talk for ever. It was awesome to us to see how many people grandpa affected during his lifetime. He was an honorable man and you could see that so many people loved him. He was one of those people that may die physically but the memories and the impact he left us with will keep him living forever. We miss him but are so happy we were blessed to know grandpa and to have had him in our lives.

Our Weekend

This weekend Jake and I went with JJ and Kellie to Kellies cabin in the Uintahs with the kids. It was so nice to be able to get away and be able to go paintballing and four wheeling. It was my first time paintballing so i was a little nervous but surprisingly it wasnt too bad i didnt experience any bad hits to the point where i got welts but i think i was the only one. Unfortunately me and kylie had really bad allergies and were stuffy and sick the whole time but we tried not to let it ruin our fun. On Saturday we were going to go find wildlife moose especially when we bumped into Jakes family. They had some bad news to tell us they had tried calling us but nobody had phone service. Grandpa Russell had passed away. They were doing a blood transfusion and during the time they released a blood clot and he wasn't able to survive. He left us really fast and really unexpected. Last we had all seen him he was doing really well and was striving to survive but he did not have enough strength to over come this trial. They later discovered that he had more cancer in his lymph nodes and was showing signs of pnumonia so it was just a matter of time. Grandpa was Jakes hero he wants to be just like him and strives to be everyday. He is missed greatly. Grandpa touched everyones lives in someway he was an amazing man with many different personality triats that has influenced everyone around him. We miss him dearly and will keep him in our hearts forever. We Love You Grandpa Russell!!!!!

July 4th Weekend

The 4th of July is by far my most favorite Holiday. It is so much fun to be able to spend time with family and enjoy the warm weather. I was lucky enough to only have to work a half day of the 3rd so we went boating and spent the night on the lake. Wakeboard till dark! My parents just bought a Master Craft it is way "SICK" Jake says, it was so much fun. Jake and his best friend Casey went out and both wakeboarded at the same time. I got the coolest video of them make sure to check it out because it is way awesome. Paige was learning how to get up. Jake used to teach lessons so he knows all the tricks and was able to get her up but then she fell right away i think it will take sometime for her to get used to the feel but she set a new goal to learn how to stay up by the end of the summer. My goal is to learn how to clear the wake. I am learning how to get better air and if feel like i am so close i just cant quite make it over i guess i just need to cut harder according to Jake the expert.

On the 4th we went to the Kaysville Parade! It was fun but very long. Both Chelsea and Paige were both in the parade and did awesome. At the end there is the water part of the Parade and we all got soaked it crazy to see all the trucks come out with their hoses and soak everyone. Both my mom and Jakes mom decided they didnt want to participate but the truck forced them to get wet and soaked them in their seats it was so funny because Jakes mom Chris was screaming on the top of her lungs while everyone else was hiding under the tree except for my mom she was laughing so hard she couldnt get out of her seat.

After the Parade we went to the Stadium of Fire, Kylie was lucky enough to be able to dance during the show with many other girls from her dance team. Even though we couldnt see her it was cool just to think she was down there. We had terrible seats and could barely hear anything but we still had a BLAST. The firework show at the end was incredible it was like 45 minutes long and the whole thing was like a finale. It was the best show i have ever seen.

Gramps Surgery

We found out a couple weeks ago that Grandpa Russell has kidney cancer the size of a football. Yesterday he had his surgery and the doctors feels pretty confident that he got most of the cancer. Some of the tumor was attached to a muscle in his back so it will take a little longer to recover but all around he did very well. He is so strong it is amazing to me to see what he has gone through and after the surgery how well he looked. It was like nothing had happened to him. It probably wont be til the beginning of next week until we figure out how sever it is but all around he was a trouper!
